Meet Dr. Pamella Terry, Therapist & Founder

Dr. Pamélla E. Terry is a compassionate and experienced mental health therapist and empowerment coach dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. As the Founder of The Point of Light Therapeutic Counseling & Life Coaching Services, established in 2018 in New York City, she provides individual, family, and group therapy for those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, imposter syndrome, and relationship challenges. She also facilitates workshops and group sessions on topics such as stress management, parenting strategies, and mental health awareness.

Therapy and life coaching are incredibly powerful tools that can help address a range of challenges—from anxiety and depression to relationship struggles and trauma. Research has shown that therapy is highly effective in managing mental health conditions, and as experts note, “it’s worth it even if you don’t have a medical problem” (HuffPost, 2017). Dr. Terry believes therapy and coaching go beyond symptom management; they help align the mind, body, and soul, empowering clients to lead more fulfilling and balanced lives.

Her therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), emphasizing understanding how past experiences shape present realities. She believes in the power of storytelling, self-discovery, and culturally meaningful solutions to foster healing and emotional growth. She aims to provide a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to make meaningful changes.

With over two decades of experience in education, mental health, and leadership, Dr. Terry has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults in both the public school system and private practice. She holds a Ph.D. from Concordia University, a Master’s and Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Interventions and Psychology from Fordham University, and an Advanced Certification in Mental Health Counseling from Alfred University. Additionally, she is a certified Life Coach through the Life Purpose Institute. Dr. Terry holds a certificate in couples therapy, allowing her to provide specialized support for couples seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their relationships. She integrates evidence-based approaches to help couples navigate conflict, enhance emotional intimacy, and create healthier, more fulfilling connections.

Dr. Terry is also a dedicated educator. Since 2008, she has served as an Adjunct Professor at the City University of New York, where she teaches psychology and human development courses. She is currently under the supervision of Chavone Crespo, MS, LMHC, LPC, CDBT, ACS, as she continues to expand her practice and expertise.

If you’re looking for a therapist who listens with empathy, values your lived experiences, and works with you to create meaningful change, Dr. Terry is here to support you on your journey to wellness.
